Signing Ceremony: UNECE International Centers of Excellence

The Board of Director of the Building Energy Exchange
and
Richard Yancey, Executive Director
together with
Olga Algayaerova, Executive Secretary, UNECEĀ
and
Scott Foster, Director, Sustainable Energy Division, UNECE
celebrate the launch of a new network of
International Centres of Excellence on High Performance Buildings

In 2017, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, one of the five United Nationals Regional Commissions working to implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals, adopted Framework Guidelines for Energy Efficiency Standards in Buildings and this year launched an initiative to disseminate and deploy the guidelines worldwide. As part of the effort, UNECE is developing a global network of International Centres of Excellence on High Performance Buildings that will provide on-the-ground implementation assistance for building developers, contractors, architects, engineers and planning officials.

On July 10, Building Energy Exchange will become a founding International Centre of Excellence on High Performance Buildings, the first in a critical network of knowledge sharing and scaling up high performance building best practices. Additional centers are underway in Vancouver, Canada; Wexford, Ireland; Pittsburgh, PA; and Brussels, Belgium. This event will commemorate the creation of the network and mark the beginning of knowledge and resource sharing among these progressive communities. The network will expand as other communities join.

Representatives from other proposed Centers of Excellence will attend, as will representatives from Penn State University, who has partnered with UNECE of the companion Global Buildings Network, an academic consortium for research un ultra high performance buildings, in support of both the Guidelines initiative and the International Centers of Excellence network.

This is an invite-only event. Please reach out to rcy@be-exchange.org to request an invitation.
