Overview

The International Codes (I-Codes), published by the International Code Council, provide minimum safeguards for people at home, at school and in the workplace. The I-Codes are a complete set of comprehensive, compatible, and coordinated building safety and fire prevention codes adopted by most U.S communities and many global markets.

Created in 2000 and revised every 3 years, the International Building Code
addresses the design and installation of building systems, and is one of the most commonly-used I-Codes. Its 2003 edition formed the base of the New York state code.

It is fully compatible with other I-Codes including the
International Energy Conservation Code and the International Green Construction Code.
