IESNYC Lightfair International Sneak Peek

Join IESNYC for Lightfair International Sneak Peek – The American Louvre: Lighting Design for the Smithsonian’s Renwick.

The oldest art museum in the United States, and locatedacross from the White House, is also the newest after recent renovations. Research for lighting the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery began seven years ago with a Department of Energy gateway project.

The seminar will demonstrate how these innovations were used to create lighting for “Wonder”, an exhibit that increased attendance by 700% with its immersive, evocative and stunningly beautiful displays. The participants will discover how “IES TM-30: The IES Method for Evaluating Light Source Color Rendition” was used as a design tool. In addition, the participants will learn how lighting controls and the creation of new lamp and lens techniques helped to create this 100% LED illuminated museum as one of the best of its kind.
