Registering for one course date enrolls you in both dates of the two-part course.
The Passive House Fundamental series dives into each key principle of high performance building design: airtightness, energy recovery ventilation, insulation and thermal bridging, and windows & doors. Full course schedule below.
June 7, 1-2:30pm: Airtightness & Ventilation
The first part of this two-part course teaches how to achieve a continuous airtight barrier for retrofits and new construction and utilize efficient balanced ventilation systems. The course will discuss lowering heating/cooling demand, improving indoor air quality, preventing moisture/mold issues, and achieving Passive House Certification.
Instructor:
Stephen Mrdjenovich, AIA, CPHC, Associate Principle, GBBN
June 14, 1-2:30pm: Insulation, Thermal Bridging, Windows & Doors
The second part of this two-part course teaches the basics of Passive House insulation materials and techniques, principles of thermal bridging and high performance, and how to select and install high performance window and door products without compromising aesthetic. Participants will learn about improving thermal comfort, cutting energy costs, enhancing resiliency, and extending the lifespan of a building components.
