Join BE-Ex for the Passive House Primer – an engaging, one-hour seminar on Passive House fundamentals and their application in the NYC market. Available as a free session at the Building Energy Exchange, the Primer is ideal for property owners, managers, developers, and anyone interested in gaining a plain-English introduction to high-performance construction concepts. Architects, engineers, and design professionals new to Passive House will also benefit from this fun, introductory course.

Instructor

Shawn Torbert – Shawn’s career in sustainability began in 2007 when he left the medical device industry to become VP of New Business Development at Greenable, Inc., Philadelphia’s first green building material supplier. Since then he has maintained a strong focus on sustainable building materials, energy-efficient design, and energy policy in NYC, Canada, and the U.S. for multiple global and domestic corporations.

Shawn served on the Board of Directors of New York Passive House (NYPH) from 2014 to 2016 and co-founded the New Jersey Passive House (NJPH) Chapter. He is Passive House Trainer for the Building Energy Exchange in NYC and is a North American Passive House Network Ambassador.

Shawn holds a Master of Science degree in Sustainability Management from Columbia University, a Bachelors of Arts degree in Biology from Lehigh University, and is a LEED AP and International Certified PassivHaus Consultant.
