Building Energy Exchange
Join the Building Energy Exchange as we kick off the fourth year of our Women in Sustainability and Energy (WISE) series, with a keynote event featuring Alicia Barton, president and CEO of the New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
Barton leads all aspects of NYSERDA’s operations, including implementing Reforming the Energy Vision (REV), Governor Cuomo’s strategic plan to convert New York’s economy to 50% renewable energy by 2030 – one of the most ambitious energy mandates in the nation.
Donna De Costanzo of the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) will moderate this one-on-one discussion, drawing on audience questions as well as her own professional experience. In her role as the Eastern region director of Climate & Energy at NRDC, De Costanzo advocates for the implementation of policies that increase the deployment of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and clean transportation options.
The conversation will explore the work Ms. Barton is leading at NYSERDA to transform New York’s energy landscape, and the ways in which her previous professional experiences in law, government, and the utility sector have shaped the work she is doing today.

The Women in Sustainability and Energy (WISE) series showcases inspirational women leaders who are accelerating the sustainability and energy efficiency of our buildings and our cities. This popular series brings together women from diverse fields to discuss cutting-edge policies, technologies, and programs; providing a networking forum and framework for year-round dialogue. WISE is an inclusive platform for both women and men to learn from experienced leaders, share knowledge, and advance equity in the workplace.
In just three years, WISE has produced twelve sold-out events featuring 39 women leaders, attracting 1,000 industry professionals, and engaging many more through social media. BE-Ex is building on this enthusiastic response with creative programming designed to support the growth and education of this community.
The theme of WISE 2018 is Women in Power: Reimagining & Reshaping the Energy Industry. The 2018 series will feature conversations with women professionals from the private sector, government, and utilities who are leading the charge to transform our energy systems.
