9:00 am to 10:30 am
Building Energy Exchange and NYSERDA are pleased to host this Beyond Zero series event, Climate-Friendly Campuses, focused on decarbonizing buildings at the campus scale, with reverberating benefits for entire communities.
As Governor Hochul expressed in the 2022 State of the State address, there’s no time to waste in turning the commitments of the Climate Act into reality – including the decarbonization of not just single buildings, but whole neighborhoods. Tackling decarbonization at the campus or portfolio level can accelerate the achievement of New York State and City climate goals along with community-scale improvements to resiliency, energy savings, and quality of life.
During this discussion, a panel of experts will discuss the unique opportunity for campus-level projects to accelerate decarbonization, and what strategies they enacted to achieve low-carbon, high-performance buildings.
Introductory Remarks:
Karren Bee-Donohoe, Associate Vice Chancellor for Capital Facilities at SUNY System Administration
Moderator:
Nina Sharifi, Carbon Neutral Roadmap Advisory Council, Assistant Professor at Syracuse University
Speakers:
Indu Lnu, Director of Energy at University at Albany, SUNY
Cecil Scheib, Chief Sustainability Officer, Office of the President, New York University
The Beyond Zero series will celebrate low carbon projects across the State of New York that improve the health, affordability, and resiliency of communities. A multi-year effort across 2021-2022, the Beyond Zero educational series will highlight successes, strategies, incentives, and goals for accelerating building decarbonization and optimizing carbon neutral design and construction.
