Christoph Reinhart: Designing with the Sun
Join Green Light New York for a book presentation and dialogue with Christoph Reinhart.
Designing buildings to take advantage of daylight is not a new discipline, but few people have a deeper understanding of this subject than Christoph Reinhart of MIT. One of the preeminent academics in the field of sustainable building science, Reinhart has focused for many years on the
intersection of timeless design fundamentals and innovative technology. He has brought all of his considerable intellect to Volume 1 of his Daylighting Handbook series, published this year. The volume adeptly describes the physical characteristics of the sun and the human eye, lays out the design fundamentals of allowing daylight to guide the massing and shading of your project, and describes the tools available to guide analysis.
Following his presentation, Mr. Reinhart will discuss the state of daylighting design with another luminary in the field, Davidson Norris. Mr. Norris is a principal of Carpenter Norris Consulting, whose work most recently includes the stunning oculus within the Fulton Street Transit Center.
