Join IESNYC for Lightfair International Sneak Peek – The American Louvre: Lighting Design for the Smithsonian’s Renwick.

The oldest art museum in the United States, and locatedacross from the White House, is also the newest after recent renovations.¬†Research for lighting the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery began seven years ago with a Department of Energy gateway project.

The seminar will demonstrate how these innovations were used to create lighting for “Wonder”, an exhibit that increased attendance by 700% with its immersive, evocative and stunningly beautiful displays. The participants will discover how “IES TM-30: The IES Method for Evaluating Light Source Color Rendition” was used as a design tool. In addition, the participants will learn how lighting controls and the creation of new lamp and lens techniques helped to create this 100% LED illuminated museum as one of the best of its kind.
