Climate Week Networking Evening: Buildings as Grid Assets

September 22, 5:30 – 7:30pm

As New York’s electricity demand grows, buildings have a critical role to play in supporting a resilient, reliable grid. Buildings and the Grid: Clipping the Wing of the Falcon Curve

September 24, 9:00 – 11:00 am

Our power grids face an array of converging and mounting challenges. After more than two decades of relatively flat consumption, the electrical grid is experiencing significant increases in demand driven by building and vehicle electrification, extreme weather events, and the rapid growth of data centers. At the same time, the transition to clean, renewable energy is creating new challenges in balancing supply and demand.  Join Building Energy Exchange and the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for a moderated discussion with regulatory and industry experts exploring how building decarbonization can help address, rather than exacerbate, the current and future challenges facing our grid.

WISE Women in Waste: Turning Trash into Opportunity

September 24, 5:30 – 7:30pm

Join WISE for an evening with women leaders from across the sustainability industry as we explore what it will take to shift how the world sees waste. Through presentations and a moderated discussion, we’ll examine how to shift the perception of waste from an unavoidable cost to a valuable asset, what it will take to move circular solutions beyond pilot projects, and the conditions needed to drive broader adoption. A networking session followed by a live Q&A will commence after!
