As the Building Energy Exchange ramps up for 2015 we want to put a portion of our programs in the able hands of a volunteer programs committee. This committee will ideate, develop, and manage a wide variety of events. Selected applicants will benefit from the many networking opportunities that come with a leadership role in public programs and will play an integral role in establishing the Exchange as a vital hub for the advancement of energy efficiency in the built environment.

The committee will likely consist of 8-10 motivated individuals, with two vice-chairs identified to guide their efforts. The group will be asked to develop programs both general and technical in nature, and which address issues as broad as global climate change impacts or as specific as next generation lighting control systems. Programs will include panel discussions, project presentations, film screenings, author talks and other events. The committee will commit to delivering 1-2 programs each month, except July and August. Individual events will be the responsibility of subsets of the group to vary the work load. We anticipate quarterly in-person meetings with perhaps a short monthly call.

These programs will augment the work of BEEx staff developing resources that increase adoption of energy conservation projects and reduce friction for teams pursuing such projects.

The volunteer committee will help BEEx determine the strategic focus of these programs, develop individual events (including identifying and securing the participation of speakers), and will liaise with like-minded organizations for both development and marketing purposes. The committee will have a modest budget, and will work directly with the Managing Director of Strategy & Programs. BEEx will handle registration logistics and other support services.

The Building Energy Exchange has enjoyed early programming success, with almost 1,500 visitors of programs delivered by both BEEx and 30 other organizations since April of this year. With the deep functionality of our new website, the increased visibility of our brand, and our central role in many key energy efficiency efforts in the New York region, the programs committee is a unique opportunity to get involved early with a rising organization.

To apply for one of these select positions, please include a resume and short description of your qualifications in the body of an email (not as an attachment) to info@be-exchange.org. Subject line: Programs Committee.  We will notify applicants of next steps by January 16th.
