No less a figure than former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin has an excellent op-ed over at the Council on Foreign Relations website titled: How Ignoring Climate Change Could Sink the U.S. Economy.  As Amory Lovins once memorably put it, “The good news about climate change is that it is cheaper to fix than it is to ignore.”  Many skeptics of climate change mitigation point to the things we don’t know as reasons for inaction- but the very unpredictability of climate change impacts should lead us to more cautious actions.  Caution, in this case, dictates aggressive investment in technologies or processes that dramatically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.  The most cost effective of those is energy efficiency.  If Mr. Rubin or any of his skeptics are interested in seeing how energy efficiency can help save our ecology and our economy they can drop by any time.
