NYC Carbon Challenge: Universities & Hospitals Handbook Launch - Full Length Video

Launch: Handbook for Universities & Hospitals

Join Building Energy Exchange and the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability for the formal launch of the NYC Carbon Challenge Handbook for Universities and Hospitals.

The NYC Carbon Challenge is a voluntary leadership program for universities, hospitals, commercial offices, and multifamily buildings to commit to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent or more over ten years. Launched in 2007, the Challenge includes 17 leading universities, 11 largest hospital organizations, 11 global companies, and 18 residential management firms.

These leading participants have acted aggressively to cut their emissions to meet the Challenge goal. Five universities, one hospital, and two commercial offices have already achieved the 30 percent goal, with an average of a 19 percent reduction across all participants. Throughout the course of the Challenge, the university and hospital participants have tested and refined best practices and effective strategies for GHG in buildings through research, implementation, and a willingness to revise and adapt.

Join us the morning of December 15th to explore these strategies and hear case studies directly from participants about valuable lessons in energy efficiency and potential pathways to achieve deeper carbon reductions.
