Let There Be Daylight: Full Length Video

Let There Be Daylight

Join Green Light New York for a presentation of two seminal reports on daylighting in commercial office buildings.

With funding from Natural Resources Defense Council, Green Light has studied the energy and cost savings potential of retrofitting New York City office buildings with advanced daylighting controls. The report includes policy and incentive recommendations to accelerate action and stimulate this critical market to take advantage of the wave of lighting retrofits triggered by the Lighting & Submetering law of the Greener, Greater Buildings Plan.

Concurrently, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, with support from the U.S. Department of Energy, has recently completed a post-occupancy study of the shading and daylighting system deployed in 2007 at The New York Times Building. The success of that project, perhaps the most advanced integrated daylighting system of its kind in New York City, demonstrates the potential savings that can be achieved in New York’s building stock.

A presentation of the findings of each report will be followed by a moderated discussion and audience participation. A selected group of Green Light New York supporters will receive tours of the New York Times offices prior to the event.
