Mass Timber
Please join BE-Ex to celebrate the publication of Mass Timber: Design and Research (ORO Editions, 2017) with author Susan Jones, one of the foremost voices in the mass timber dialogue today. A widely-discussed contemporary construction method, mass timber provides environmental, construction, and aesthetic benefits including a far smaller carbon footprint (compared to the production of concrete or steel), superior thermal performance, speed of assembly and positive human health outcomes. Mass Timber: Design and Research includes a short history of Pacific Northwest forestry, modern cross-laminated timber manufacturing practices, a comparison with standard construction practices, and the design of several building types using mass timber.
Following a presentation of the book’s contents, Jones will be joined in discussion with a carefully selected panel of experts in the emerging field of mass timber. The panel will address the most promising use cases for mass timber, the policy and other barriers to widespread adoption, and the potential benefits to our local and global communities.
Copies of Mass Timber: Design and Research will be on hand for purchase at the event, or you can order the book here.
