Sneak Peak of LIGHTFAIR

Join IESNYC for a sneak peak of LIGHTFAIR, a conference on innovative and energy efficient lighting on April 26 to April 28.

Presentation: The Latest Research on LED Flicker
Temporal Light Artifacts (TLA) – or more informally, flicker – is an often undesirable characteristic of lighting, whether visible or experienced as headaches and reduced productivity. With SSL lighting, and the near-instantaneous reaction of LEDs, TLA is easier to generate than ever. Causes include fluctuation in the mains voltage, driver design, and control compatibility issues, such as dimming with phase cut dimmers. Customer demand and recent industry work has brought this issue to the forefront of SSL designs. This lecture presents the current state of TLA research, and proposed a new method to quantify this elusive characteristic.

SPEAKER:
Jim Gaines, Senior Principal Engineer, Philips Lighting
