Join Building Energy Exchange (BE-Ex), New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), New York Power Authority (NYPA), and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for an engaging discussion on New York State’s groundbreaking Clean Heat for All initiative and NYCHA’s window heat pump program.
To achieve a resilient, healthy, and net-zero future for all New Yorkers, we must fundamentally change the ways in which we heat, cool, and power our buildings—especially in the public and affordable housing sectors.
The building sector accounts for over 70 percent of New York City’s carbon emissions, with nearly 40 percent of these emissions resulting from onsite space heating and hot water systems that rely on fossil fuels alone. While improving the efficiency of these systems is a crucial first step, a more substantial reduction in emissions will require a shift away from oil and gas altogether. This is where innovative technologies like window heat pumps come into play. We will explore whether these retrofits are cost-effective and involve minimal tenant disruption (and if not, then what are our options?).
Discover how the widespread implementation of this technology can align with Local Law 154 and the State’s plan to achieve two million climate-friendly homes by 2030, and learn more about NYCHA, NYPA, NYSERDA’s collective efforts to support these advancements and help achieve climate mandates at both the city and state level.
Following the moderated panel discussion, there will be a live Q&A session where attendees can directly engage with industry experts. Whether you’re a building owner, tenant, design professional, or policy analyst, this expert-led discussion will offer valuable insights into adopting clean energy solutions that are proven to be safe, versatile, cost-effective, efficient and conducive to living and working comfortably!
