Building Energy Exchange is proud to announce the official launch of our Envelope Showcase, the first in a series of rotating showcases that expand upon the core building systems outlined in our 2020 Anatomy of an Energy Efficient Building exhibit.

The Envelope Showcase takes a deep dive into the building envelope, detailing system principles, building strategies, and market-ready technologies that effectively reduce energy use, in the context of New York City’s climate action targets and statewide electrification goals. Five case studies explore the real-life applicability of the principles and building solutions outlined in the exhibit’s core content.

The Envelope Showcase is currently on view at the Exchange in downtown Manhattan, and will available virtually on be-exchange.org ahead of the launch (all registrants will receive a direct link to the virtual edition).

To celebrate the launch of our new exhibit, we’ve invited three project teams representing case studies featured in the Envelope Showcase. The case studies—a class-A commercial re-cladding project in Manhattan, a new construction multifamily building in DUMBO, and a full rehab of a low-income East Village co-op— each highlight a different set of envelope-focused building strategies that improve energy efficiency and occupant health and wellness, while reducing operational costs.

Please join us for an illuminating discussion with the case study representatives, followed by a celebratory reception and viewing of the showcase in our downtown Manhattan resource center.

This is a hybrid in-person/online event. Space is limited and pre-registration is required to attend in person. If joining in person, vaccination is required: you will be asked upon entry to show your in-person ticket and proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (via Excelsior Pass or other proof of vaccination). Virtual attendance to this event is also available – you may choose to join and participate via Zoom webinar.
